Join Waterford poet José B. Gonzalez as he shares his poetry.

This announcement was in The Day:
“The Immigrant Experience” with featured poet José B. Gonzalez with a musical preface on piano and flute by Joe & Laurie Zelman will be presented at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek.
Gonzalez was born in El Salvador and came to the United States at the age of 8. He once knew no English and is now a professor at the Coast Guard Academy in New London with a Ph.D in English. He is the author of the Latino Book Awards finalist “Toys Made of Rock,” and is co-editor of “Latino Boom: An Anthology of US Latino Literature.” A Pushcart winner, he has been anthologized in the “Norton Introduction to Literature” and has presented at colleges throughout the U.S.
His poetry has been published in various journals including Boston Review, Callaloo, and Acentos Review. An excerpt of his poetry is part of the first ever Latino exhibition at the
National Museum of American History in Washington.

Gonzalez was born in El Salvador and came to the United States at the age of 8.
